2010-09-09 | Posted By: Szymon Machajewski BbStats 1.0.3 released The bbStats system tracks sessions active on the Blackboard system. It displays users based on how many clicks they performed during their session. The most active users are at the top of the report. The graphs can be customized to set the time period of the data, the number of top users reported. Access can be limited to the graphs to System Administrators, or by a key word passed in the url. The latter is often useful in creating links from other sites or dashboard, especially for mobile use. iPhone has been tested and is compatible with the graph display system. The amount of guest users or sessions on the system can often affect the number of processes started on the application server. This in turn may result in OurOfMemory errors - unable to start new process. Since process memory is reserved outside of heap assignment, the more guests on the system the more memory consumed by new processes. Some of popular building blocks have proven to generate a large amount of guest sessions on Bb 9 systems. While these building blocks will be corrected in time, systems have to be configured to allow for the large amount of guest sessions present. This is done by limiting heap size and allowing more memory for OS processes. Example: 16GB system with 8GB heap run out of system memory due to too many processes, With 4GB heap the system can sustain over 30k guest sessions. ![]() |
