I've added two new versions of the browser checker, BrowserCheck v3.5, and CheckMini v3.5.
Both have compatibility requirements for Bb 2015Q4 release.
The mini checker is a stripped down version you can use on your login page, or other pages within Bb. It is loaded as a theme package via the Admin Panel in the GUI. I have been using a flavor of the mini checker on our login page for a while and began getting requests for it and questions about how I was doing it. So here you go... See the readme included in the package. for usage instructions.
If you are updating your current packages, all that would typically needs updating/replacing is "check.js," your other files would normally be unchanged. However, in the 3.3 release I changed how Java (and version) is detected. If you wnat to use the new detection method, you will also need to make minor changes to your existing "index.html" file. I have described the changes in a doc titled "JavaChanges_v3_3.docx." If you are already using v3.3+, no change is neccessary.
The new Java detection method uses Javascript instead of a Java applet. This modification was primarily made to deal with the security changes introduced in JRE 1.7U51. I had been testing Javascript detection of Java on another project and have found it to be quite a bit faster than using the older Java based method. Due to changes in supported plugins, Chrome and MS Edge do not report Java. I'll be looking for a new method that is cross-browser functional.
